Hi folks

Well i have been feeding a cat for a few weeks .Tuesday i went to a funarl the other side of the country .
So Monday night i left a fully worker atomatic feeder and lots of water and go cat .And also fed him again .
(tuesday i left at 4.30 am )got back at 10pm ( else where hour from home )

So he should had been fine for 24 hours

What did he do .Well the feeder did not open but it was working fine here ,So i had left lots off go cat just encase ,

So he went wandering he is 17 and a bit sruffy he is full on and thought i don,t like go cat food so someone will feed me
so he was at a ladys for a few days half mile up road after me and other people hunted high and low for him and we thought he had died due to his age .

the lady in the end took him to the vets and they kept him .While i came up twice a day to look for him his owner said she did not belive he would had died ..Even at 17 yrs old

so she rang from abroad to say ring the vets and there he was ha ha i could nor belive

so now he is shut in as they said to do this with a cat tray .

sulking as he can,t get out he looks better then when he went missin his coat shines and the vet did his fur ( he is 17 and does not clean him self so has to be brushed )and his nails .
so thats naughty Nesta christine

Oh Chrissie - I know I shouldn't laugh, but I just can't help it. The thought of him being at the vets when you were looking or him really tickled me. Thank goodness he is OK though.

Chrissie, can I ask what the vet did about his fur? I've got a 19 year old cat who doesn't groom herself anymore either and has stopped letting me brush her. I try and get a chance to brush occassionally but her fur is very matted now from her mid waist back to her tail. Did they just brush him?

Glad you found him!!!!

When my old cat had the same problems, they shaved a lot of his fur off (in summer). I was very concered as to how he would react but he was fine.

yes go to the vets and they will sort it .
I think they shave it under a puff of gas .I think its the only way .

Nesta was bald .earley in year .The vet had shaved him .
i brush him every day with a plasic thing which looks like an odd brush .Which i think was brought at the vets and told it was soft ,
even brushing him does not stop the mats though him being at the vets they took one mat off .So he is a bit more tidy
but i guess the bad one on his back will have to be shaved .

they need vet care if they can,t clean there selfs as they can get fur balls in the tummy .

Also i have a little thing that cuts out a small mat but no good for big ones .

Yes Jean me and the man next door laughed at our selfs as we had been under the bushes lookiing for him well for his dead body
When i found he was alive well laughed our heads off .I had been looking in the woods as well .And there he was having the best food in the vets .
and having his nails done and they had been sorting out something his fur shines .
i think the owner will be over the moon when she gets the message

Come to think we have a speichel brush and he goes to the vets for a shave the only way i think as the mats are right too the skin sometimes also there is a thing to cut them out but not if its matted to the skin they need to have a puff of gas and get it done it grows back and nesta had it done in the winter and he did not care .Christine

I already love Nesta without meeting her! My friend told me her neighbour's cat vanished for 2 weeks and she was heart broken. A few days into the 3 week, she was chatting to a neighbour from round the corner and the cat sauntered past. She gratefullly scooped him up and showered him with kisses to the amazed stares of the neighbour. Turns out, he hadn't been missing. He had been put in the cattery for 2 weeks as the neighbours went away and they thought he was their cat!!!
